Learning the Basics of Online Craps

Winning at the game of craps depends solely on chance, but understanding the many different betting options can help you maximize your profits at the online craps table.

Free Odds Bets

Many new craps players aren't aware of the free odds bet. The spot for this bet, right behind the pass line bet, is often not noted on the craps board. The free odds craps bet carries one of the lowest house advantages in the casino and can be especially profitable if you wager on the numbers four and ten. This bet has 2:1 odds, while five and nine have odds of 3:2.

The Worst Craps Bets

While some craps bets offer some of the best odds in the casino, craps is also the game associated with some of the worst betting odds. There are a few bets that should always be avoided, such as the any craps, any eleven, or any three bets, all with a house edge of 11%. The any seven is the absolute worst craps bet, with a payout of just 4:1 and a casino advantage of 16%.

Other Bets in Craps

There are many other betting possibilities in online craps. Horn bets, for instance, cover the numbers 2, 3, 11, and 12 individually. With a 12% house edge, this bet isn't usually the best strategy. The double odds bet, on the other hand, has a casino advantage of almost nothing and can be an extremely profitable strategy in online craps. Three unit bets are typically a good choice as well.

Learning how to play online craps isn't as difficult as many people think it is. Take the time to practice and become familiar with the betting options before placing any big wagers and you'll be on your way to mastering the game.
